Virtual Lesson Plans for Elementary Learners
These downloadable lesson plans are intended for parents, teachers, and students alike! Come learn about the anatomy of the brain, the tiny cells inside our brains, and the wonderful ways in which our brain allows us to sense the world around us.
-
Lesson 1
This lesson introduces the concept of the brain as the central organ of the nervous system. By the end of the lesson, students will know that the brain is responsible for functions like thinking, remembering, and moving, and will have a foundational understanding of the brain’s central role in human life and activities.
-
Lesson 2
This lesson covers the basic structure and function of neurons, the fundamental building blocks of the nervous system. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe the role of neurons in transmitting messages throughout the body and will understand the importance of these cells in facilitating communication within the human brain.
-
Lesson 3
This lesson covers the brain's major regions - the frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipital lobes, and provides students with a basis for understanding each area’s specific role in the brain’s many functions. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and articulate the primary functions of the brain’s four major lobes.
-
Lesson 4
This lesson covers the brain's role in smell and taste, and the unique connection between these two sensory systems. By the end of the lesson, students will understand how the brain processes signals from the nose for smell and the mouth for taste.
-
Lesson 5
This lesson covers the brain's role in vision and hearing. Students will learn about the brain regions enabling us to sense the world via these modalities. By the end of the lesson, students will understand how the brain processes signals from the eyes for seeing and the ears for hearing.
