The Art of the Brain Kids Program
Students will develop a foundational understanding of the brain through hands-on, experiential learning. Content is multi-sensory, developmentally appropriate, and engaging. This four-part program is built to inspire creativity, spark curiosity, and teach little minds that they too can be neuroscientists.
-
Lesson 1
In this lesson students will learn where the brain is located in different animal and human bodies. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify where their brain is located in their own bodies and will finger paint their very own brain.
-
Lesson 2
This lesson will help students discover the brain’s shape, texture, and color. By the end of the lesson, students will create their own 3D clay brain and will creatively decorate it.
-
Lesson 3
This lesson discusses the complex functions of the brain using the five senses as case examples. Students will rotate through sensory stations and will make a sensory mat. By the end of the lesson, students will create a visual illustration of just a few of the brain’s many jobs.
-
Lesson 4
In this lesson students will learn how the brain communicates with the body via messages. By the end of the lesson, students will create a visual representation of the interconnectivity of the brain through string art.
